Canva Isn’t Just a Design Tool, It’s a Money-Making Machine
I’ll be honest, I had no idea Canva would become one of my favorite tools to earn an income online. But here we are in 2025.
In 2023 alone, Canva generated $1.6 billion in revenue. And that’s not from just big brands. Everyday creators like you and me are turning Canva into cash by selling digital products, templates, and services. Have you ever wondered how to make money with Canva? It is easier than you think, let me show you.
I’ve pulled together 9 legit ways you can start today, even if you’re new. Plus, I’ll share my free ebook, 5 Ways to Make Money with Canva, and a peek into my MRR Digital Products Library to help you skip the guesswork and start strong.
1. Sell Canva Templates on Marketplaces Like Etsy
Templates are hot right now. Planners, social media bundles, wedding invitations, you name it. People are willing to pay for beautiful, plug-and-play designs that save them time.
Here’s what worked for me:
- Niching down: My templates for business coaches, photographers and solopreneurs took off faster than generic ones.
- Bundling products: Offering a 3-in-1 set of templates always outsells singles.
- Selling on Etsy: still a platform to sell on but it can be very saturated, so standing out is essential.

2. Create Digital Products Using Canva
This is where Canva really shines. I’ve designed:
- Ebook layouts
- Digital planners
- Lead magnets
- Printable checklists
- Courses
All using drag-and-drop magic inside Canva Pro.
The best part of this is it can be passive income. You make it once, list it, and it keeps selling. If you’re unsure where to start, I walk you through everything inside my Canva Crash Course, from idea to final product.
3. Start a Print-on-Demand Business with Canva
I designed art prints using Canva and uploaded it to Printful. There are so many options with POD that you can sell. Printful and Printify are two that I like, but there are others out there to explore too.
What works:
- Journals, tote bags, and tees
- Niche sayings or inside jokes
- Uploading to Redbubble or using Shopify
POD isn’t totally passive, but it’s an amazing low-risk way to get started.
4. Freelance as a Canva Designer
You don’t need to be a full-blown graphic designer. There’s a huge demand for:
- Instagram post designs
- Presentation decks
- Lead magnet layouts
Platforms like Upwork, Fiverr, and even Facebook groups are full of clients looking for help. Use Canva to build your portfolio in a weekend.
5. Use Canva to Customize PLR and MRR Products
This is one of my favorites.
I have a Digital Products Library with MRR rights, over 200+ editable resources across niches. With Canva, I bundled them into sellable assets.
Want to skip months of product creation? Check out the MRR Library here – it’s a powerhouse of ready-made content you can legally resell or use in your business.
6. Start a Blog or YouTube Channel About Canva
People LOVE tutorials. There is money to be made by educating people on your blog or YouTube channel:
- How to make a digital planner
- Where to find Canva hacks
- How to sell templates
Add affiliate links (like Canva Pro), build your email list, and grow your audience, all from Canva content!
7. Launch a Canva Template Membership
If you want recurring income, this is gold.
- Monthly drops of new templates
- Exclusive trainings
- A community or Facebook group
There are so many busy professionals who would love monthly templates so they don’t have to bother with designing. It would be a time-saver too!
8. Create and Sell a Canva Course
If you’ve figured out how to design or sell with Canva, teach it!
My Canva Crash Course shows you how to:

9. Teach Canva as a Service
You don’t need 10k followers. Just 1 or 2 local businesses willing to pay for help.
Run workshops. Teach a local community group. Offer 1:1 Canva coaching sessions for business owners who hate design but need it.
Final Thoughts: Pick One, Start Simple, Grow Fast
